Billingham town centre is a 320,000 sq ft open air retail scheme. Billingham is part of the Tees Valley Economic area, home to the largest integrated chemical complex in the UK. It’s reputation and continued strength in these international markets has allowed the town to retain a loyal and secure residential population who regularly shop in the centre and are benefiting from the recent investment in the town centre and surrounds. This investment is clearly visible and includes new private residential development immediately adjacent to the town centre in addition to the 2.35 million pound public realm, 2.2 million pound new library, refurbished Forum leisure centre and theatre regeneration. At the East of the centre is the Forum which has a major pull throughout the north east for the Swimming Pool, Ice Rink, Theatre and other facilities.

Parkway Shopping Centre is a 210,000 sq ft district centre and forms the principal commercial destination in the town. It is well anchored by large Tesco (direct entrance into mall) and the town’s leisure centre/swimming pool. The scheme benefits from a substantial surface car parking offer of 1,320 free spaces.

Castlegate Shopping Centre is a busy centre located between the High Street and the A3105 ring road. The High Street frontage provides the major pedestrian access into the centre benefiting from being directly adjacent to the town’s bus station and main taxi rank. The centre also benefits from a footbridge over the ring road and the River Tees linking directly with the Teesdale Business Park. Castlegate provides the only covered shopping centre within the town comprising circa 340,000 sq ft of retail accommodation arranged as 59 units, which trade predominantly at ground level, and storage at first. It originally opened in 1973 and was subject to a phased refurbishment programme including an extension during the mid to late 1990’s. It has been further improved by the current owner, extending the market hall and fully refurbishing the car park.

Officially opened in November 2002 at a cost of £26million, Regent Walk is Redcar’s newest shopping development. With 23 units including Argos, Clarks, Home Bargains, Internacionale, New Look and Westgate department store.
